The sensual French actress Edwige Feuillere was known for her long career in theater, as wellas her arresting voice and expressive eyes. Feuillere also achieved notoriety in 1935 in one of her early roles by appearing naked in the film LucreceBorgia. The young girl showed interest in the theater while still in school and appeared in school plays. Feuillere attended the Paris Conservatory of Dramatic Arts and married Pierre Feuillere--she kept his name for the stageeven though the marriage was short lived. Beginning with unnotable roles, she received recognition as a serious actress in 1939. In 1960 Feuillere virtually ceased taking roles, but remained active in the theater world. She officially retired at the age of eighty five. Feuillere published Les Feux de laMemoire(1977) and Moi: La Clairon: biographie romancee de Mlle Clairon(1984).
