Full name, Jon Devon Roland Pertwee; born July 7, 1919, in London, England; died of a heart attack, May 20, 1996, in New York, NY; son of Roland Pertwee (an actor); brother of Bill Pertwee (an actor); married Jean Marsh (an actressand writer; divorced); married Ingeborg Rhoesa, 1960; children: Dariel (an actress), Sean (an actor). Career: Actor. Appeared in cabaret productions and at Doctor Who conventions. Military service: British Navy, served during World War II.
Pertwee was expelled from drama school as a young man and was told he had nofuture as an actor.
