Alexander told CTFT that he was "nursed on the concepts and philosophies of the 'Group Theatre.' I was inspired by Stanislavski, O'Casey, Lorca, Pete Seeger, Martha Graham, and Zelda Fichandler." He states further that "I have always been drawn to social justice ideas and am a strong advocate for the rightsof children and youth."
