Jason Bernard Biography (1938-1996)



Born May 17, 1938, in Chicago, IL; died of a heart attack, October 18, 1996,in Burbank, CA. Actor. Bernard died just after he was nominated for a Cable Ace award for his work in the movie Sophie and the Moonhanger, which aired onthe Lifetime network. An actor who has appeared in television and movie rolesranging from a parole officer in the disco cult film Car Wash to Dr. MartinLuther King, Jr., on the PBS program The Meeting, Bernard was also active inthe Seattle theater scene, directing and acting in such stage productions asA Midsummer Night's Dream and The Threepenny Opera. But it was on televisionand film where Bernard earned much of his critical praise, particularly for his supporting role in the 1995 romantic comedy While You Were Sleeping. Bernard also made several character appearances on television series such as Cagney and Lacey, The Jeffersons, and Knots Landing.
