Corby was best known for her role as the common sense but loving grandmother on the television series The Waltons. Corby often played character roles during her career that featured her as a no-nonsense or fussy spinster. The actress worked for twelve years as a script assistant before turning to acting.She made more than one hundred film appearances and appeared in many television Westerns. Corby suffered a stroke in 1977 and cut back on her work in The Waltons, though she continued to make guest appearances. Film creditsinclude Angel in My Pocket(1969), Support Your Local Gunfighter(1971), and Napoleon and Samantha(1972). Television credits include the series Please Don't Eat the Daisies(1965-1967) and The Waltons(1972-1979).
