Harry S. Ackerman Biography (1912-1991)



Born November 17, 1912, in Albany, NY; died of pulmonary failure, February 3,1991, in Burbank, CA. Producer. During his career Ackerman supervised the production elements of several popular television series, including Gunsmoke, The Jack Benny Show, and I Love Lucy. He developed and producedLeave It to Beaver, co-created Bewitched--two series that remain popular in reruns--and was involved in the production of Studio Oneand Suspense. Ackerman held several administrative positions with theCBS network, and he also worked for Screen Gems (now Columbia Pictures Television) and Paramount. In addition, he was president of his own company, HarryAckerman Productions.
