Joe Hamilton Biography (1929-1991)



Full name, Joseph Henry Michael Hamilton, Jr.; born January 6, 1929, in Los Angeles, CA; died of cancer, June 9, 1991, in Los Angeles. Producer and musician.

Hamilton began his career as a vocalist with the Skylarks, appearing on television's Dinah Shore Show in the 1950s. In 1958, he shifted careers andbegan producing television programs, including the comedy-variety series The Garry Moore Show. He also served as executive producer of such popular series as The Tim Conway Show, Mama's Family, and the long-running Carol Burnett Show, which featured his then-wife, Burnett. During his long career in the television industry, Hamilton garnered five Emmy Awards, three of which were for work on The Carol Burnett Show, as well as ten Emmy nominations for variety programs he produced for Burnett.
